[PEB PRESS ASSOCIATION.] BUTTER FACTORY MISHAP. TAURANGA, May 9. A young man, John Sinclair Ross, employed at the Tauranga butter factory, was struck on the head by the tap of a revolving churn, early this morning, and received a fractured , skull. He was removed to the hospital in a critical condition. WOMAN KILLED. TE AROHA, May 7. A mixed train from Hamilton crashed into a car at the boundary of Te Arolia borough, at 12.45 p.m. to-day. • Mrs. Ada Sprigs, aged 60, of Te Kuiti was thrown thirty feet and killed instantly. Rose Sprigs, aged 16, suffered minor injuries. Two othei’ occupants were unhurt. The car was completely wrecked. MAN FOUND SHOT. ASHBURTON, May 8. Cyril L. Collins was found wounded in his shop shortly before noon to-day. He had a gunshot wound in his head, and beside him lay a pea rifle. He was treated by a doctor immediately, and was- removed to the Public Hospital in in ambulance. He died shortly after admission. Collins was married with three children, and occupied a draper’s shop at the corner of JVills and East Streets, in Saunders’s Buildings. He was 37 years of age. CROSSING COLLISION. WELLINGTON, May 9. As the result of a train and motor car colliding at Heretaunga crossing shortly before 11 o’clock last night, George Dow, believed to be a warder at Wi Tako Prison, and Mrs A. Dow, his wife, were admitted to the hospital. The husband received injuries to the left arm and a punctured wound in the forehead. Mrs Dow has scalp wounds and concussion. Both had a miraculous escape from death. The train caught the car broadside on, smashing in the side, turning it completely over. The car somersaulted and the two occupants were flung out.
