RUNANGA B. v. COBDEN B. I ; The bantam grade was advanced an--1 other step yesterday when Runanga ! B. met Cobden B. the former winning by one goal (scored by Maskill) to 1 nil. A heavy wind militated against ’ good play, but nevertheless some of ’ the lads showed good form, particularly J. Campbell and H. Johnston for Runanga and Fred Smith and R. McIntyre for Cobden. Mr. J. Brailsford was referee. COBDEN A. v. RUNANGA CONVENT This game was very evenly contested. In spite of the heavy wind the boys kept the ball moving and some nice combined play was witnessed. The Cobden forwards led by Pike were a shade more triclcy and were : instrumental in winning the game by three goals (Bligh, Pike and Eatwell) to nil. For Convent, Max Jamieson, Hatch and Airns played best and for Cobden Inglis and Barrett (backs) and Bligh and L. Eatwell (forwards) played well. RUNANGA v. COBDEN The senior game between these teams was well worth watching, the combination of both teams, particularly the Cobden right wing, being an object lesson. Thjs wing was. always dangerous and all of Cobden scores came from this side. Had it not been for sound defensive play by Runanga backs, especially Kyle and Hamblgy, the score would have been larger. Another feature of the game was the good distance shooting by H. Eatwell, Cobden’s centre. This player had a shot whenever opportunity offered and succeeded three times. Cobden ran out winners by seven goals to nil. For Cobden Rowe, Pike, and H. Eatwell (forwards), and J. Skeats and Wilson (backs), played best while for Ru- ; nanga Clay and Jackson (forwards) 1 and Kyle, Hambley and Hector (backs), worked hard. Mr. J. Brailsford acted as referee.
