WELLINGTON HOSPITAL
BOABP’S ENFORCED ECONOMIES. [per press association.] WELLINGTON, May 7. In a letter to the Prime Minister, the Wellington. Hospital Board points out that it has cut down the estimated expenditure to £129,789, resulting in a reduction of 20 per cent. „in the Government subsidy and levies, as compared with last year. The Board points out that the reduction will probably seriously jeopardise the efficiency of the Board’s services, and unduly limit the amount of money available for the proper maintenance of wards and buildings. It may seriously imperil the welfare of the sick and'injured, and seriously limit the amount for charitable aid, unemployment relief distress, and maternity demands. The Board issues a warning that in the event of the present demands for assistance being continued, if will - have to ask for special grants, or arrange finance by Way of an overdraft. '
