MOTOR CYCLISTS KILLED

CHRISTCHURCH, August 10. Percival Charles Mooar, aged 18 years, who resided in Addington, died in the hospital this morning from injuries received when a motor cycle he was riding collided with a car on the Main South Road yesterday. His companion on the pillion seat, Thomas Samuels, aged 19, received head injuries, but his condition is not causing anxiety. WELLINGTON, August 10.

John O’Shea, aged 20, of Rangiora Avenue, Kawarra, was killed outright when his motor cycle collided with a motor bus near the Northland tunnel at 7.22 p.m. on Saturday.

SYDNEY MAN KILLED

SYDNEY, August 10.

A motor-car, wherein were Frederick Guy, John Lock, and a New Zealand jockey, Keith Voitre, dashed on the footpath at Paddington to-day, killed Frank Hall, 35, hairdresser, who was pinned against a shop and dreadfully crushed. Voitre had a broken nose and Lock was admitted to' the hospital, but Guy was uninjured.

Guy was arrested, charged, with manslaughter and reckless driving.

MAORI DROWNED.

WHAKATANE, August 10.

A native, William Simon, aged 27 years, was drowned yesterday at Whakatane Heads. His dinghy, being overloaded with mussels, capsized, and he sank almost immediately, beingunable to swim. His two companions swam to the shore in an exhausted condition. The body has not yet been recovered.

TEST EXCURSIONIST KILLED?

HAWERA, August 11

On arrival here of an excursion train, yesterday morning, returning from the fourth Rugby test, E. J. .Tippett, a Hawera passenger, informed the police that he had seen a man fall from the platform of one of the rear carriages in a tunnel just after the train left Wellington on Saturday night. He said that the man’s body struck the side of the tunnel, then rolled from view. The guard was informed immediately, and the train stopped at Ngaio. Four others, including two women, were ’on the opposite platform, but did not witness the happening, as their view was obscured by Tippett, who was crossing the gangway.

FARMER FOUND SHOT.

HAMILTON. August 11.

Daniel McKeown, a middle-aged farmer was found dead on a farm at Ngaruawahia this morning with a shotgun beside him. The discovery was made by Dr. G. B. Isdale, of Ngaruawahia, when visiting the deceased, who had suffered from ill health lately and was depressed as a result.

McKeown was born in the district and lived there all his life. He was married ‘but had no children.

FALL INTO RIVER.

WAIROA, August 11.

Sidney Williams was drowned this morning in the Ruakituri River, above Terihga Falls, while crossing on a wire. The body has not been recovered.
