CHRISTCHURCH MAN’S DEATH.

CHRISTCHURCH, August 10.

Grantley Norton, ■ a well-known business man, who lived at 44 Cashel Street, was.. found dead in an empty house at 226, the Esplanade, New Brighton, yesterday. He was lying near a gjjts stove, which was turned on.

' Norton, who had been missing for several' days, called on a land agent on Friday at New Brighton, saying that he wished to take a house. The agent gave him the keys to a house at 226, The Esplanade.- He returned the keys, says that he would take the house, and would call for the keys again between one and two o’clock. Yesterday, some of his friends came to the agent’s office, enquiring after the missing man. The agent gave them the keys to the house, and when they arrived there, they found Norton lying dead in the rear of the house near a gas stove, which was turned on.
