PESHAWAR MENACED
BY LARGE AFRIDI FORCE.
(Recd. August 11, 10 a.m.) DELHI, August 10.
The inhabitants of Peshawar are spending anxious days owing to the menace of raiding Afridis growing ever nearer. Devout Moslems are praying for the success of the British Indian troops.
The main body of Afridis, estimated at ten thousand, is encamped in Bara Valley, tw’elve miles from the city. Some seventy aeroplanes operated against them, dropping six thousand bombs, but it is believed the Afridi casualties are small. Meanwhile, the main attack on Peshawar has not materialised.
