PRINCE OF WALE
TOO STRENUOUS PROGRAMME.
[BY CABLE—PBESS ASSN.—COPYRIGHT.]
LONDON, August 9.
The Prince of Wales has arranged for a complete private holiday, and has declined any public engagements until the end of September, feeling that he needs a rest after the strenuous life he has been forced to lead throughout the year. Since his return from Africa in April, he has had the busiest time. •He has visited Scotland, Wales and many parts of England. He made an exhaustive tour of the Duchy of Cornwall last week, taking Brussels and Antwerp in his course, and scores of engagements have been . carried out by him, as well as exacting programmes of speech-making at the opening of institutions.
DUCHESS OF YORK.
LONDON, August 9.
A beacon, thirty feet in height, will be lit around the base of a giant pine, near Glamis Castle, when an interesting event takes place in the household of the Duke and Duchess of York. The .blaze will be the signal for the kindling of a chain of beacons from Airlie to Forfar, which will be visible for hundreds of miles.
