, N.S.W. RETRENCHMENT. SYDNEY, June 17. The State Governor has assented to the Economy Bills that were passed by the New South W'ales Parliament only after strenuous opposition in the Assembly. These Bills increase the working hours from fortytour to forty-eight week. They permit the rationing of employment and also authorise the reduction of the Public Service salaries, as well as the imposition of an unemployment tax of threepence in the pound on all earnings. The Bills also provide for a, reorganisation of the Government relief administration. The measures will come into operation on July 1.
