DEATH AT THE WHEEL. [pep. press association.] WELLINGTON, March 28. An elderly "'man, George John Startup, had a seizure and died at the wheel, while driving a car on the Hutt Road late last night. The car began to swerve, but Mrs. Startup, who was in the front seat, managed to get control, and stopped it, just as it was about to crash into a post. Only slight injuries were done. An ambulance car came by, and after some time, doctors were procured, but could do nothing, as life was extinct. LICENSE CANCELLED. MARTON, March 26. William Malcolm, aged 29, taxidriver, was 4 to-day sent to gaol for one month, for being in a. state of intoxication while in charge of his car, in Upper Queen Street on Sunday morning last. “Here is a taxi driver who was drunk and who has been twice before the Court,” said Mr Hunt. “Probation is out of the question.
