Charles Barron, assistant referee of the fight, was killed an hour afterwards, but before he died he fatally wounded James the fight promoter. ' Barron fell foul of Walsh for awarding the sixth round to Griffiths, and. after the fight Walsh attacked Barron, breaking his nose. Barron and a friend secured a gun, and found Walsh with three members of his gang in a restaurant. A revolver duel ensued, in which both fell.
