At the Sydney Stadium last night Billy McAlister (8.6), defeated Tommy Griffiths, the New Zealander (8.61) on a technical knock-out in the tenth of a fifteen round contest. The New Zealander forced. the fight over the early rounds, scoring with straight lefts to the face, and short rights to McAlister’s body during in-fighting, while McAlister punished with rights to the head. The New Zealander’s ducking, however, enabled him to evade much punishment. McAlister landed a heavy right to Griffiths’ head in the seventh, which made him groggy. Tfie Australian continued to inflict punishment in the eighth and ninth rounds and halfway through the tenth, McAlister dropped his opponent with a heavy left hook and a right to the jaw. The referee saw that Griffiths was in a bad way while he was delivering the count, and he stopped the bout and declared McAlister the winner. POGOCK—BROADFOOT DRAW. (Per Press Association.)
