GORSE DANGERS

WORKER’S HYE INJURED. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, February 12. In the Arbitration Court, a claim was made by Maxwell Louis Pemin against John Graham, of Stokes Valley, for £323 compensation and expenses, in respect to an injury to an eye through being struck by a piece or. gorse, while clearing a section for defendant. It was stated that the parties were on good terms, but were unable to

agree over the amount of compensa tion. Judge Frazer remarked that both were very lucky. Gorse prickles were very septic and in the majority of such cases, the injury would cause the loss of an eye. He awarded £6B in addition to £2O already paid, and in case any further trouble developed, which from the doctor’s evidence was not likely, he made a suspensory award of an additional penny a week.
