Oats, Tasmanian white 4/8 to 4/10, Algerian 4/6 to 4/9; maize yellow 3/8, white 4/-; potatoes, Tasmanian £5, onions, Victorian £l2 to £l3; Japanese £l6. ADELAIDE, August 23.

SYDNEY WOOL SALES
SYDNEY, August 23.
To-day’s catalogues at the wool sales totalling 8415 bales, whereof 8178 were sold. The market was unchanged. Japanese and German competition was still a feature, with some French support and sparing purchases of superior sorts for America. Good fleece and skirtings sold readily. Greasy merino fleece to twenty-five and threequarters, comebacks to twenty-four and a-quarter pence.

DAIRY STOCK SALE. There was considerable interest taken in the sale of dairy stock which took place at Herepo yesterday, when the whole of the herd comprising 50 head of cows and heifers, the property of Mr W. Berry, were submitted to public auction by Messrs W. Jeffries and Co. Buyers were in attendance from Barrytown. in the North to <Waiho in the South. As a result every pen offered met with spirited competition. Confidence in the future of the butter and cheese market was a considerable factor in assisting the demand, added to which the stock were yarded in excellent condition. A record was made in the prices for heifers when two first
c,-livers, both grade Jerseys, made the top price of £l3, after spirited competitibn. Third and fourth cows .made to £l3 12/6. A pen of fat wethers made £2 1/3 each. A large quantity of farm implements made market prices. The following is a list of the cows and heifers sold: —Second calf JerseyShorthorn cows £ll 12/6, £l2 10/-, £lO 10/-, £9 2/6, £lO 12/6, £ll 10/-, £9 17/6,' £l2 12/6, £9 10/-. Third-calf cows £9 2/6, £lO 12/6, £l3 12/6, £ll, £ll 12/6, £l3. Fourth-calf cows £ll 5;-, £lO 15/-, £lO, £ll 5/-, £9 7/6, £9. Fifth-calf cows £9 2/6, £ll 5/-, £8 5/-, £ll 12/6, £8 2/6. First-calf heifers £l3, £9 5/-j. £7 10/-. Two-year-old (heifers r.w.b. £6 5/-. Aged cows (springers) £9 15/-. Two-year-old steers £5 10/-; 20 fat wethers at £2l/3 each.
WEST COAST CATTLE. West Coast cattle commanded good prices at the Addington sale on Wednesday. The following sales were made on behalf of West Coast growers:—W.
