QUESTION FOR CHEMISTS

(To the Editor.) Sir, —Through your paper, I would like to ask the chemists of Greymouth a question. Before doing so, I may say that it refers to that important item where infants are concerned — sugar of milk. In Christchurch, I have been used to purchasing a one-pound packet of this necessity for 1/3, but, on coming to Greymouth, I find that I have to pay 1/9 for an exactly similar article/The factory, according, fo the announcement on the packet, is at Dunedin. If sugar of milk can be sold (I presume at a fair profit) by chemists at Christchurch for 1/3, the fact that 1/9 is demanded at Greymouth appears to indicate profiteering. Here is the question: Will the chemists of Greymouth explain, for the information of mothers generally, why there is such a great disparity between their prices and those charged at Christchurch?—l am, etc., , MOTHER.
