ARBITRATION COURT.

GREYMOUTH SITTING

A sitting of the Arbitration Court, piesided over by Mr Justice Frazer, was held in Greymouth this morning. The matters before the Court were dealt with in Chambers.

An informal conference took place regarding the method of computing compensation payable to a man injured* at one of the local sawmills. An application made by the Secretary of the Greymouth branch of the Amalgamated Society of Carpenters and Joiners (H. Crankshaw) to add a number of builders to the Westland award was considered.

There was no appearance of the respondents, and the following employers were according!}’ added : —W. Clark (Runanga), E. Ellery and J. Henson (Blaketown), R. Marley (Cobden), M. McGrath (Greymouth), J. McMillan (Cobden), G. Noble (Runanga), G. Patterson (Blaketown), F. Sparks (Greymouth). The Court also met the representatives of the employers and the union of workers in the electrical trade in conference, for the purpose of discussing terms of the proposed apprenticeship Older to apply to the electrical trade in the West Coast Industrial District. The Court sits at Westport on Wednesday to dispose of a number of compensation claims.
