REEFTON BOWLING CLUB
ANNUAL MEETING. There was a large attendance at the sixteenth annual meeting of the Reefton Bowling Club, held at the Council Chamber on Wednesday evening last. The President, Mr A. B. West, was in the chair. The President’s annual report stated : — Favoured with good .weather conditions throughout the summer months, the 1926-27 season resulted in a most enjoyable one as a playing season. It is gratifying to narrate that our membership shows an increase of 7 playing members, numbering 25, as compared With IS the previous season. From the balance sheet presented by our secretary, the club’s position financially may be considered satisfactory. In this connection, I record an increase of £22 in members’ subscriptions, but as against this, expenditure has gone up by £5O, chiefly due to the increased cost of the upkeep- of the club’s green, £ll, and extraordinary expenditure in renewing garden timbers and supports, £2O. During the year a cottage was purchased and erected on the green at a cost of £4O for the use of the caretaker. The decision to erect this building was given careful consideration by your committee, who were offered and received a loan from one of our members to cover the cost of the work mentioned. Our best thanks are due to Mr Blackmore for his assistance in again helping the Club financially. We were favoured with visits from the Linwood and Greymouth Clubs in the course of the season, and although Reefton were unsuccessful in these two challenges, the games were keenly contested, thoroughly enjoyed, and give indication of the helpful assistance ’ and social goodwill resulting from such competitions. The balance-sheet showed receipts for the year amounted to £ll9/16/10, the subscriptions totalling £6l/6/6, donations £2 15/6, competitions £2, rent of croquet lawn £32/10 and a loan of £4O, bringing the total to £159/16/10. The expenditure totalled £154/16/3. the credit balance being £5/0/7. The statement of liabilities and assets showed the first named to amount to £225 and the assets to £330/0/7. leaving a balance over liabilities of £lO5 7/-.
The report and balance sheet were received and adopted and the election of officers resulted as follows: — President, Mr A. B. West (re-elect-ed): Vice-Presidents, Messrs J. B. Auld and A. E. Werry; General Committee, Messrs H. Wicken, C. Nevin, C. J. Blackmore, Wm. Wood and V. Mori: Ground Committee, Messrs C. J. Blackmore, H. Wicken, and A. B. West (re-elected); Selector, Mr C. J.
