Our Own Correspondent.) Despite the boisterous night, the combined bymnastic and hockey girls’ annual ball in the Miners’ Hall on Friday evening was largely attended. Blackball, Greymouth, Hokitika, Blaketown and Cobden were represented. Everybody’s orchestra was in attendance. The hall was tastefully decorated and the ladies deserve great credit for the way in which the ball was carried out. Thanks are also due to the ladies who assisted in preparing the refreshments. Practically all the mines around here will be idle on Wednesday on account of the visit of the Canadian Soccer team to Greymouth. Mr W. Smith left by Saturday’s express for Wellington on a short vacation.
