Mr Geo. Pascoe, .secretary -of the Golden Coast Company, states that Mr C. S. Dalgleish, Fields Instructor to the. Agricultural Department. has spared no pains in arranging the visit of the Departmental ofHeers to Beefton. so as to obtain the ' same privileges for the Coast farmers as those afforded the farmers who reside close to the larger centres, and it behoves all farmers who reside among us to muster in full force and show

that they are fully alive to- their own interests. A 10-20 International McCormickDeering, Tractor, to the order of N. W. Gibbs was recently delivered in the Maruia district, and put through a series of exhaustive tests on several properties in the district. On Mr. Hunter’s property the capacity of the machine in ploughing was tried out, and a full muster of all farmers in the Maruia district turned out to view the operations which was successfully carried out. The next test took place at Wallis Crofts, after crossing the river where the tractor was employed pulling stumps and general clearing work. At this place a log was shifted and hauled a distance of a quarter of a mile. This piece of timber was 21ft. long and 3ft 6in in diameter. The next test was on Mr. Reid’s property where the machine was yoked up to a saw, and its efficiency was again proved. Mr. Gibbs handled the tractor from the time of its arrival and with very little instruction soon mastered the machine even though he had no previous experience with one of that type.
