(Our Own Correspondent). HARI HARL June 11. The concert held in the Public Hall last evening was a decided success as far as amateur theatricals are concerned. The performers surpassed themselves in every way. Those worthy of special mention weie Airs. While Messrs George Robertson, Albert Smythe, George Cooper, Frank and Gordon Ford and Miss K. Adamson carried out their parts admirably. The hall was packed and the audience was well pleased with the performance although it was a trifle short. The proceeds go towards forming a tennis club here. A dance was held later and kept going until ah early hour visitors being present from Wailio, Okarito, Wataroa and Greymouth. We are well off for entertainments lately. “The Follies” gave a performance about a fortnight ago and pay a return visit on June 17. The wfeather down here’ has been

fine for quite a while now, with the exception of a few drops of rain. We have had some very hard frosts lately and one can have ice cream in the morning, the milk being frozen. Rain will be welcome to quite a few as the tanks are dry and the water has to be'carried. Mr. C. D. Lucas- arrived back after spending a holiday in Christchurch. Mrs. Barret is on a holiday in the North Island. Mrs. A. L. Robertson and family left here this week on a visit to Westport. Miss Esther Theobald also, accompanied them. Miss Purchas of Christchurch, has taken up her duties as assistant school mistress in place of Miss Al. Duncan. Mr. John Ferguson is about to join the ranks of benedicts, the wed-

ding was to take place in Hokitika to-day., Mr. Hans Shearer left here this week to attend the bridegroom, at the ceremony. Air. J. AlcKay of Evans Creek is leasing his farm shortly for three years to Air.. Jones of Wataroa. It is Air. and Airs. AlcKay’s intention to go to the North Island for that period. Word was received that Airs. AV. Searle, formerly of Hari Hari, but now of Seatoun, Wellington, was taken to the Wellington Hospital suffering from pleurisy.
