AUCKLAND, Sept. 24
A ccnlingent of 232 soldiers and two nurses arrived at Auckland to-day. Twenty-four of thu officers are retu ruin/* on' duty, but the remainder of the contingent'has been invalided hack. The uorts of destination arc:—Auckland, 3 officers and 68 men ; Wellington, 22 officers and 72 men, and two nurses; Lyitelion, 1 officer and 26 men ; Port Chalmers, 30 num. There are four Military Medalists. Lieut. Hugh IVrkins, Cbristchurcl), won ids when in the ranks; Bombardier William Brown, Dunedin ; tfergt. Kdward b'ox, Auckland. The U.C'.M. is held by Sergt. Frank Holder, of Napier. Two of the officers ami one private wen' recalled by the authorities for munitions work. The southerners will leave by special train at 10 o'clock tonight. ANOTHER. HATCH ARRIVES. (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, This, Day. Another batch of returned troops, numbering 450, arrived to-day. They comprise invalided and limbs cases, hut no cot cases-Thirty-three officers, who qualified for commissions at Cambridge and Oxford, return shortly with reinforcements. One, man. Private J. M. Nieol, Otao-o Infantry, died at sea. Four decorated officers sunT ono decorated non.-com. returned.
