NEW PUBLIC TRUSTEES
PERMANENT BOAIID ESTABLISHED. [By Electric Telegraph—Special to "Star."{ WELLINGTON, This Day. An amendment to the I'ubliu- Trust Act wu s introduced by Governor's message last night. Sir Joseph Ward explained that it involved an important change. It was intended to control the office by a< permanent board of three, one being the Public Trustee, the other two being the assistant trustees. The present Advisory Hoard, which had dona good work, would be discontinued. All trustees would get the same «il;iry— £ 1000 per annum. It was proposed to till one position by transferring Mr. Triggs, Public Service Commissioner, who would bo Public Trustee. His old place is: being tilled. The assistant trustees would be Messrs T. S. Ronaldson and J. W. McDonald. The Bill provided, in addition U* the matters, described by the Minister, a clause enabling Uio Public Trustees' to administer the estate of a- deceased soldier wlio was on ucdvo service whether his will "vvasl signed or unsigned, or wag contained in u< declaration. It was passed.
