A FURTHER PROTEST.

AUCKLAND, February 22.
At a, meeting convened " of the Catholic Federation in connection with the Convention, the following resolutions were carried:
That in order to produce a higher type of citizenship, the ancient Catholic, ideal of combination of moral and religious training with secular instruction is Hie best.
That in view of this fact, it is unreasonable that conscientious objectors of any religious) body to the jurely secular system of education should have State assistance in' the training of their children, while they are called upon to* bear their share of taxation and perform other full duties as citizens.
That this meeting therefore urges the Government to take such steps a-s will relieve one-seventh of our populate i from tho double burden of building and equipping tlieir own schools, and at the same time paying for schools they cannot in conscience make use of.
That the - meeting thanks Lie Federation for what it has already done and pledgee itself to support whatever steps the Federation may think advisable to take for the removal of Catholic grievances.
