DEATH OF MR. T. YORK.

Last Saturday's Nelson "Colonist" eontains the. following- obituary notice :—-Another of Nelson's old colonists passed peacefully, to his rest on Wednesday last. \v r e refer to Mr Thomas York, of Bishopdale. Mr York was born in Bedfordshire, England, in 1827, and at the time of his death was in his 77th year, tie came, out to New Zealand over half a century ago, and start or! business as a builder in partnership, with the late Mr William Wright. After some time this partnership was dissolved, and Mr'York continued tho business on his own account. He finally abandoned that occupation some thirty years ago, in order to take possession of Rishopdalo Farm, where ho find his wife and family have resided ejfer since. Mr York has been a typical colonist, hardworking and industrious, a man who all ended to his own business and interfered with no one else, respected by his fellows for his integrity and uprightness and his many sterling qualifies, and beloved by those: who had a more intimate acquaintance with him. He, and his wife who survives him, have brought up a numerous family, five out of six sons being alive, and seven daughters, all of whom are living. One daughter is married and is the wife of tho Rev. F. P. Fendrill, of Ranglora. Two sons still carry on the business ; another is farming in the Wairhoite ; and two arc Church of England clergymen, working on the West Coast. The funeral took place yesterday morning. and was impressively conducted by the Bishop of Nelson.
