Holden, director of tlie Methodist Federal Inland Mission, when, he returned to Melbourne after a 10,760 mile tour of the inland missions, expressed the opinion, that North Australia could bo developed only by indentured coloured labour. “I have, always believed in the White Australia) policy,” he said, ‘‘but the white man is not fitted for any physical labour in the north. I lain now convinced that natives from tlie islands should be brought in to> develop the mineral resources of the territory. Unless this is done I do not see how the north is ever going to be developed. There is wealth fh the north which would not be dreamed of.”
