GET MIGRATION SCHEME
AFTER TWELVE YEARS’ SERVICE. (Aust. and N.Z. Cable). Loudon, Jan. 25. The Overseas Settlement Com nuttee has enlisted the co-operation of the Ministry of Labour and Admiral Beatty for the promotion of a- migration scheme, embracing ex-naval rating after a completion of 12 years’ service, when the men are usually -about 35 years of age. A vocation training establishment is already m existence at Portsmouth, wherebandy men are turned out. It L now proposed to supplement this with land training
Tho migration authorities advocate village communities iii the Dominions, in which noth handy men and land trainees would settle co-oper-atively. 1 It is claimed that their physical fitness and adaptability are superior to other migrants. Tile naval authorities point out the desirableness of locating naval men where they would be. able to complete their reservist training and qualify for •'* gratuity of £ 100 when 40 years of age, m addition to a. marriage allowance.
