£1,000,000 PALESTINE APPEAL
TWO YEARS TO REPAIR EARTHQUAKE RUIN.
Lord Plumer, the High Commissioner of Palestine, now on leave in England, has decided to shorten his holiday \by four weeks and return to Jerusalem in order to direct tbc rehousing measures after the earthquake calamities. Lieut.-Col. G. S. Symos, the acting High Commissioner, issued a Gaze tto Extraordinary in Jerusalem 'Raining a world appeal for subscriptions to a central fund to relieve immediate distress and provide money for the rebuilding of shattered homes. It is stated that £1,000,000 will be required pmi that the work .will take a least two years. At least one-third of Nablus _ s destroyed or must be pulled down, and the same conditions exist in Lyd. da and Ramleh. People are too dazed to help themselves, but the police and the municipality have the situation in hand.
