The outstanding event at the chess tournament was that Roti (Czechoslovakia) defeated Capablanca (Cuba). This is the champion’s first defeat in ten years. Tar Lower (Austria) and Bogojulbow (Latvia) have tied for second place with three points each. Yates is sixth with lj points.
