TO CONFIRM AN OPINION
By Electric Cable- -Copyright. (Aust. and N.Z. Cable Association.) Tamarunui, March 25. On Sunday a party consisting of Mr T. Blytli, of Ohakune, Mr A. W. Gordon and Mr M. Galvin, of Taumaninui, made the ascent of Girdlestone peak, 87.30 leet, in iongariro Park for the purpose of ascertaining the condition ol the marble .slab erected thereon two years ago in memory of the late Hugh, Girdlestone, F.R.G.S. Despite the powerful disintegrating forces which are continually acting against this precipitous pinnacle, the monument displays no sign of deterioration, and t?Te party is o» the opinion that its -permanency is now assured.
