THE CANADIAN DISTURBANCE (By Electric Cable— Copyright.) (Aust. and Cablo Association.) Ottawa, May 16. Mr Stewart, Minister of Interior, assured the Indians at Brantford that reservation lands would remain under the control of tlio six nations and certain reforms would bo intsituted in the Indian Act, but lie refused to commit himself on tlieir demands to define the Indian status, either as Canadian subjects or as allies, advising the Indians to let the issue drop and live in peace and harmony with tlio whites .
