Mr Chamberlain, in the House of Commons, said Lord Curzon had sent the French, Italian and American Government proposals for an immediate joint investigation into, grave charges against the Angora Turks of cruelty and barbarities towards Christian minorities in Asia Minor. Mr Chamberlain read the statements of Dr. Ward, of tlie Near Eastern Relief Commission, stating that the Turks woro deliberately planning to exterminate tho Christian minorities, herding Ottoman Greeks into Amasia in such a manner that large numbers of dead had been counted. These atrocities liad been going on for seven years. Mr Chamberlain added that confirmation had boon received of Major Youell’s report that Turks had murdered 10,000 Greeks, afterwards scizing their widows and daughters and transferring them to harems.
