LABOUR CANDIDATES MENTIONED. (Per Press Association.) ■Wellington, May 16. Nominations of Labour candidates to contest tlie Wellington seats will not closo until the end of June, when the Labour Representation Committee will hold a selection ballot. Up to the present, the following have been mentioned: Wellington East, Mr A. E. Monteith, secretary of the Tramwaynien’s Union ; Wellington South : Messrs IT. Dyson (secretary of the Storemen’s Union), A. M. Keen (secretary of the Grocers’ Union), and J. McKenzie (assistant secretary of Hotel and Restaurant Workers’ Union); Wellington Suburbs, Mr A. W. Croskory (secretary of the Amalgamated , Shop Assistants’ Society); Wellington ‘North, Mr C. H. Chapman (secretary of tlie Typographical Union), and Mr Snow; Wellington Central, Mr P. Fraser. It is understood that Mr H. E. Combs, secretary of the Post and Telegraph Officers’ Association, will bo nominated in the Labour interest for Wellington North, and that Mr M. J. Mack, secretary of the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants. and President of the Alliance of Labour, may be nominated for Wellington East. Mr C. U. Pritchard will again contest the Hutt seat for Labour. LIBERAL CANDIDATES SELECTED. Napier, May 16. As the result of the visit of Mr T. M. Wilford, M.P., Leader of the United Liberal-Labour Party, to Hawke’s Bay, Messrs Gilbert McKay and A. E. dull. Liberal candidates at the last election for the Hawke’s Bay and Waipawa seats respectively, have been chosen to stand in the Party’s interests at the next election. Mr Jnll has asked time to consider the matter. At a meeting of the Party s sup--1 porters at Hastings to-night, a reso- , lution of condolence was passed with tho widow and family of the late Mr E. Kellett. M.P. Mr Wilford returns to Wellington to-morrow.
