Mr G. C. Keeble has been elected to tho General Committee of the Manawatu and West Coast Association, in succession to Mr A. Conway, who has been promoted to the vicepresidency. Lord Clifford, of Chudleigli, President of the Evolution Society, who leaves England shortly for Australia and Now r Zealand to. give a series of lectures, resided in New Zealand, from 1876 until 1890, gaining farming experience. Announcing the fact that Mr F. M. B. Fisher was to speak at Christchurch in support of Mr E. G. A social gathering called for the purposo of bidding farewell to Rev. and Mrs Halliday. took place in the Glen Oroua hall last evening. A long and varied programme of musical items was presented and later a dance was held, at which Mr V. Bilderbcck acted as M.C. Mr and Mrs H. Tolley loft Feilding this morning on a trip to Sydney aud the South Sea Islands. DVIr O. C. Sporle has been appointed Superintendent of the Feilding Fire Brigade and caretaker of the Fire Station, to assume office on July 1. Mr Sporle joined tho Brigade as a messenger, and has seen 11 years’ service, for six of which lie was foreman.
