WOMEN CAR CLEANERS.
TO LIBERATE MEN FOR WAR

The Railway Department is making an experiment in the employment of Avomen car-cleaners. At presont one gang of four women has been started., and their work is confined to the cleaning of tho inside of the box cars. So far they havo given satisfaction. and if the experiment .proves the success that is expected a number ot others will bo employed. Thero has been some difficulty in getting suitable men owing to tho demands.for the war, and if the departure is justified by results its extension will liberate a number of young fellows for war service who could not previously be spared.
