COMMON WEALTH'S BIG GRANTS
Melbourne, March 1. On February 25 29,891 invalid pen sions had been granted to-persons in the Commonwealth, 11,334 of these being in New South AVales. There are now 22,094 pensions in force, cancellations and deaths having removed 7797. At present 91,813 old-age pensions aro in force in the Commonwealth. Ur> to February 25 tho number granted had reached 141.984, including 51.079 in New South Wales. and cancellations removed 50,171 from the records. From July 1 to February 20 maternity allowance claims numbering 88,----305 were granted, 34,532 being in New South Wales. War pensions granted up to February 25 numbered 4003. involving an annual liability of £126,220.
