PRIZES AND EXCURSION. GAMES FOR THE WINTER. Tho School Concert given on the 6th inst. was repeated by request last Friday evening before another large and appreciative audience. Tho school funds have benefited considerably by the entertainments, greatly to the satisfaction of all concerned. During the interval on Friday evening the prizes for last year's work were presented by the Rev. H. Daniel, the following being the list- of prize winners: — Ski. VI., John Yeatcs 1, Harold Palenson 2, Harold Adam 3. Millio Cowdrey and Daisy Managh were also awarded proficiency prizes. Std. V., Annie Rasmussen 1, Kathleen Henson 2. Std. J.V., Cecil Anderson 1, Eric McDonald 2. Std. 111., Ruby AVishnowsky 1, Egmont Harper 2. Std. 11., Charles Prowse 1. Willie Cowdrey 2. Std. 1., Sylvia Cowdrey 1, Olive Voss 2. Primer 3, Reggie Redmayne- 1 Leslie Voss 2. Primer 2, Esther Wishnowsky 1, Myrtle Natzory 2. Primer 1, Bruce Yeates 1, Gw'en Williams 2. Attendance prizes were awarded to John Yeates, Wilfred Cole, Allan Eicluer, Paul Sterne, George Ellis, Robert Voss, Edward Wilson and Sheila Franklin. Mr Bennet's special prizes to the boys and girls exercising the greatest influence for good in the school were awarded to Allan Eichler and Kathleen Henson respectively. All the other children in flic school received the gift of a book. Saturday was devoted to the school excursion to AVanganui, wher e Carnival Day was being held. About 138 adults and children left Halcombe by the 8.30 a.m. train and arrived back by the 7.30 p.m., after spendi ing a most enjoyable day. The Euchre Tournaments held so > successfully last winter in aid of the local Tennis' Club are to be inaugurated, once niore, and the first of the season will be held next Friday eve- ' ning, when a good attendance is anti- ' cipated.
