THE GYMKHANA.

TO-MORROW'S FUNCTION. To-morrow afternoon, on the Feikling racecourse, the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals will conduct a gymkhana and floral fete. A liberal prize list has been prepared, and as tho society exists for a good object, there should be large support forthcoming. We may draw attention to the fact that the drinkingtrough- in Manchester Square was erected by tho society, and those express men, tradespeople, and others who have found this trough of service should render patronage to tomorrow's gathering. All entries, ' except tradesmen's carts, close on the ground at 2.30 p.m. to-morrow, when the exhibits must be in . Tradesmen's carts may enter up to 3.30. There will be on the ground a jumble stall and sweet stall, and afternoon tea is to be served in the luncheon room under the grandstand. In tho evening a fireworks displaywill be undertaken by the members of the Fire Brigade, who will also run a series of competitions which should prove of interest. The Feilding Brass Band will be in attendance. We are asked to state that any ladies willing to make donations of cake, etc., for the afternoon tea stall, and who have not been personally canvassed, are requested to leave their donations at Mr John Prior's office, or. at Mrs Long's. The wet weather has prevented tho ladies from making a number of calls which would otherwise have been made. With fine weather, there should be a large gathering on the racecourse.
