[our own correspondent.] The school children's picnic was held in Messrs Smith Bros.' paddocks on Wednesday, and was a splendid success, being largely attended by the settlers and visitors from Apiti. After the picnic, a dance was held in tho school room, music being supplied by Messrs Smith, Holly and Babbage. W. Little acted as M.C., and dancing was kept up till morning. We are having some splendid rain just now, and it is altering. the face of the country altogether. If we only get some fine weather after the rain, there will be plenty of winter feed.
