MR CHARLES HOPPING'S CLEARING SALE. J There was a very large attendance at the clen ring sale of five ard dead stock conducted by the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., on behalf of Mr Charles Hopping, at Taikorea on Wednesday. Bidding was brisk throughout, and a very good sale resulted, the. dairy cows and implements selling particularly well. The imported Holstein cow realised £31, and the two imported Holstein bulls made £40 each. The draught stallion, "Dollar Jock," brought £70, and other horses sold very well. The highest price paid for dairy cows was £15. Quotations : Sheep. — Ewes in lamb, 15s lid to 16s 4d ; Shropshire ewes in lamb, 18s 6d; ttore ewes, 10s Gd, cull lambs, 6s sd. Cattle. — Holstein . weaner heifers. 30s; Holstein weaner bulls, 22s 6d to £2; yearling steers, 35j; Holstein 2-year heifers in calf, £2 10s to £5 2s 6d ; store cows, 255 ; forward cows, £2 13s; forward heifers, £2 2s; 3-year heifers in calf, £3 2s 6d to £s_l2s 3d; dairy cows, early calvers, £5 to £15; late calvers, £3 5s to £5 usj ?.-teat cows, £2 to £8 ss. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report as follows : — At Palmerston North on Thursday, we had a small yarding of sheep and cattle. There was a good demand for store cows and good quality young steers. The few pens of sheep offered were sold . at satisfactory prices. Quotations: — Cattle.— Store rows, 32s to 355 ; forward cows, £2 2s 6d to £2 18s; fat cews, £3 5s to £2 19s; cow and calf, £2 12s 6d; heifer in calf , £2 4s 6d; 20-month steers, £2 14s to £2 19s; 24-year steers, £4.
