BURNSIDE.

Dunedin, May 22. At Burn&ide to-day 2300 sheep were penned. There was an excel-' lent yarding of sheep, chiefly of medium quality with a few pens of extra good sorts. Beat quality wethers and ewes sold at prices quite equal to late values, but the sale for poorer # sorts was a dragging one. Quotations — Best wethers sold up to 255, extra to 275, medium wethers 19s to 21s, light 14s to 17s, extra heavy ewes to 25s 9dt good 19s to 22s 6a, medium to good 15b to 17s. Lambs — 1746 penned, both in quality and quantity particularly good. The demand for good quality was keen, and prices realised were easily on a par with last week's rates. Quotations — Best lambs 18s to 19s. extra to 20s 3d, medium 11s 6d to 14s 6d, others 9s to 11s 6d. Towards the end of the sheep sale there was a pronounced drop of Is all round. Pigs — 284 yarded, a small yarding of suckers and slips, hut a full entry in all other sorts. There was keen competition .and all kinds sold at satisfactory prices. Quotations — Suckers 6s to Bs, slips 11s to 15s, stores 18s to 23s 6d, porkers 34s to £2 2s, light baconers £2 8s to £2 10s, heavy £2 13s to £3 10s. Cattle— 2ss yarded. Prices offered for cattle were much the same as last week. Competition for best bullocks was good. 24s to 24s 6d being obtained per 1001 b, medium quality 22s 6d, cow beef 18s to 19s. Heifers sold at values slightly better than cow beef.
