BAND CONTEST.

A well attended meeting of the Band Contest Committee was held in the Drill Hall yestetday afternoon. Mr A. G. Carty presided It was decided that the contest be conducted under the North Island Brass Bands Association rules. The following officers and committees were elected : — Secretary : Mr R. Walker. Treasurer : Mr Wackrill. Supervisor ; A. G. Carty. Marshall : Captain Barlfcrop ; Deputy, Captain Domigan. Advertising Committee : Messrs G. Spence, G. P. Healy, Domigan and C. Aitken. Accommodation Committee : Messrs Shorte, Frost, Lockhead, Heald, and W. J. Williams. Programme Committee : Messrs Carty, R. F. Haybittle, MeConnell, T. R. Chamberlain, J. W. Bramwell, F. C. Smith, Captain Barltrop and F. F. Haggitt. Ground, Hall and Ticket Committee : Messrs Cobbe, W. E. Chamberlain, J. W. Belfit, E. H. Fisher, J. Jacobsen and Wackiill. Finance Committee : Messrs Cobbe, Cloodbehere, F. Smith, J. W . Bramwell and A. James. It was decided to communicate with the competing bands, asking them if they are agreeable to Mr Chriohton, of Wanganui, being ininvited to judge at the contest, and that in the event of any one band not being agreeable, that the names of Messrs Trussell and King be submitted as judges. Messrs Holben and Lawrence were appointed instrument judges. It was decided to ask Mesdames Lethbridge and Haggitt to call a meeting of ladies to arrange for a garden party for the reception of the visiting bands.
