FEILDING CHAMBER OF COMMERCE.
The quarterly meeting of the above was held in Mr A. G. Carty's office last evening, Mr F. C. Smith presided. Mr Carty reported that he had interviewed Mr Lethbridge, M H.K., with reference to a new Court House for Feilding, and the latter stated that he would do his utmost towards having a substantial sum placed on the estimates for this purpose. A letter was received from the Tost and Telegraph Department stating that direct communication by telephone would be available between Feilding and Halcombe at an early date. Also that they could not see their way to install direct communication between Feilding and Dannevirke as the business at the present time would not warrant the extra cost entailed. It was decided to accept the oiler of the Railway Department re leasing the plots at the local railway station, and that the same be handed over to the Beautifying Society. It was pointed out at the meeting that during the year the membership had decreased. The annual meeting will take place next week, and it is to be hoped that business people will be well represented, when they will have the past year's workings fully explained, and learn something of the many benefits derived through the influence of this valuable institution.
