Stock Market.
Messrs Lowes aud lorns, Ltd., report prices at their fortnightly stock sale as follows : — Both sheep and cattle came forward up to advertised numbers. In fats, some good ewes and wethers offered sold at market rates. S tore wethers were well represented, but did not reach last sale rates. In empty ewes, all in forward condition found purchasers; poor classes were difficult to quit. Ewes in lamb were only poor class, all changing hands at prices accordingly. In lambs all classes were offered, and owners recognising "low rates prevailing, a clearance was effected. In cattle we submitted a few pens of good quality heifers, which sold at sound rates. All store steers and good weaners were well competed for, as also were quiet dairy heifers, old cows only being neglected. Best fat ewes 11s, others 10s 6d, wethers 18s, forward ewes Bs, others 6s 9d, store wethers (2 to 4 -tooth) 8s to 9s, ewes in lamb 4s to Gs 6d, best lambs 5s lOd, others 4s 6d, 4s, 3s Gd, 2s, culls Is 2d, fat cows £4 4s to £4 15s, fat heifers £5, store steers £4 10s to £4 17s, 2-year steers 70s, 16-months 60s, yearlings 40s, best calves 355, good dairy cows £5 12s Gd, 2-year heifers £5 ISs.
