River Plate crossbreds or merino wethers, heavy, 3 11-16 d; light, 3 13-16 d; N.Z. beef, 180 to 1201 b, fair average ox fores, 4d ; hinds, 4*d. Wheat.— Australian cargoes have sold at 29s 6d. The imports for May have increased by £927,000, and the exports decreased by £505,000 compared with the previous May. Wellington, This Day. The Department of Agriculture received tho following cable from the Agent-General dated June 7th: — Dull sale for all qualities of mutton, and a further drop in prices seems imminent. Average price to-day for Canterbury mutton, 4d; Dunedin, Southland, and W.M.E. Co., B£d; other North Island mutton, 3£d. The lamb market is depressed, and stocks are accumulating. Average price Canterbury brand is 4jjd ; New Zealand lamb other than Canterbury, 4£d. The beef market is weak, New Zealand hinds, l*d ; fores, 3£d. Butter is steady, New Zealand supplies are finished. Danish, 108s ; Siberian, 91s; Canadian, 98s. The cheese market is dull, buyers are holding back expecting prices to go lower than oGs. The hemp market steady, "good failWellington " grade on spot £85, June-August shipments £29 10s; stock 384 tons against 295 tons last year. The cocksfoot seed market is firm, buyers have been offering for cocksfoot seed more freely, N.Z., 171 b standard 495.
