The Passion Play.

la the Feilding Assembly Rooms this evening Mr Walter Benfloy will give his now celebrated representation of the famous Passion Play. The following is an extract on the production from the Wanganui Herald : ",What has been juatly termed one of the wonders of the age — The Passion Play— was preseßted last Thursday evening for the first time in Wanganui, to an excellent audience, in the form of a lecture by Mr W alter Bentloy, whose treatment of the great miracle play was indeed a masterly one. From the representation of the village of Ober-Atnmergau, where the play i 8 performed every 10 years, down to the death, burial, resurrection and ascension of Jesus Christ, the audience was kept interested in a ELannor that must indeed have beon flattering to the lecturer. The second part consisted of a number of allegorical tableux, which was also lucidly explained by Mr Bentley, and further evidenced his excellent oratorical gifts. During the third part, Miss Mattie Best contributed Faure's song ' Les Knmeaux ' (with organ and violin obligato) ; also Rodneys' beautiful composition ' Calvary,' and Adams' song ' The Holy City.' Too much praise can hardly be extended (o Miss Best for her vocalisation, which is lull of merit, htr phrasing and enunciation being distinctly good. Taken altogether, ' The Passion Play ' was a genuine treat, and Mr Bentlev certainly deserves the thanks of the community for having allowed them an opportunity of witnessing it,
