The Niger Territory
(Per Phess Association). London, May 10. Captain Lugard has returned from the west coast oi Alrica. In the course of an interview he vouched for the trush of the statement that the Governor of Dahomey led the French Niger expedition, and stated that two large forces of French troops are assembled at the lower part of the river. Captain Lugard concluded a treaty with the chiefs of Borgu, on the Niger, without paying attention to the French claim. Paris, May 10. The French press reports that the Governor of Dahomey has completed the formal occupation of the Hinterland up to the Niger.
