A FINE EFFORT
THE KNITTING KNIT WITS OVER £24 10s REALISED The Knitting Knit Wits—a group of Pulcekohe school children —raised £24 11s 5d during the week-end for t he relief of children in bomb scarred England. On Friday evening and Saturdav morning stalls were conducted in King Street and when produce and sundry articles were disposed of. Compel it ions resulted: Black Orpingtons, Mrs Betlany and Mrs Turner: fancy cloth, Mrs Ensor: jug, Mrs Bettany: nut bowl. Mavis Cummings: tea cloth. Mrs Moyle; dressing table . set, Ren Sarah; dinner, Mrs Russell: chocolates. Marjory Davoren. On Saturday evening the club arranged a dance in the Oddfellows' hall in conjunction w ! lh the soldiers farewelling commiltce. There was a good af tendance despite I lie unlavourahle weather conditions and an enjoyable time was spent in dancing to music by Midglcy's orchestra. Mr S. Shot bolt was master of ceremonies. A dainlv supper was served. The Knitting Knit Wits Club comprises two groups—High School and Primary School children. They are. High' School: Tui Bettany (captain), Lois'Short (secretary and treasurer). Hae Noble. Fay Hart. Bunty Day, Frances Upfon. Lois Carter, Fay Armstrong. Primary: Betty Booth "(captain), Betty Lawrie, Melva Brown, Dorothy Harper, Audley Denize, Valerie Hynes, Fay Brown. Pat Patterson, Betty Hinton, Maureen Measham. Marie Oldham and Eileen Yates.
The children are to be complimented on the magnificent result of their thoughtful effort on behalf of the less fortunate school children of England.
