OLD-TIME DANCE
FUNCTION AT TUAKAU ENJOYABLE EVENING SPENT* DECORATIONS A FEATURE The Tuakau ladies' old-time dance committee brought another popular and successful old-time dance to a close at'midnight last Saturday-night. There was a good attendance of dancers and throughout the evening a friendly and informal atmosphere prevailed. Mrs Harrison’s popular orchestra supplied the music while Mr .1. Bellow was again master ot ceremonies. The stage was tastefully decorated in pink and green. The Y for Victory symbol was featured in a background of lattice work while stalely bamboo and dainty pink blossoms were grouped on tbe stage. At il.:j() the committee, served a butiel supper which was quickly served, thus enabling the dancers lo enjoy an extra, played by Mr E. May. Tbe next dance in Hie series will be held on August 23. while the committee is also arranging a special old-timers eight nn August 29. At tbe. beginners' dance on brnias last a good muster of young people displayed their keenness to become proficient dancers. Mrs Hewitt gave interesting instruction in modern dancing and it is expected that many young dancers will benefit from this instruction and will also appreciate the laet that Mrs Hewitt- has sacrificed hei time for their benefit. Mrs Bush again supplied a good deal of the and was assisted by Mrs Twidlc, Mi=> Oates and Messrs Ray Clarke and Dick Bolt, to whom the committee s thanks were extended.
