The attendance: There were only seven members present at the borough council meeting last week, Councilor A. Parris having resigned, and m apology for absence was received Tom Ihe deputy mayor, Mr 11. Montgomerie.

Prince Edward park rentfThe council decided to let the Papakuri Rugby League Club have the use of Prince Edward Park for the coming season at a rental of £lO. A stock route criticised: A resident, Mr W. B. Cox, asked, should the council decide to still let his road be used as a stock route, a fence be put round his property to keep cattle and sheep from getting through into his place. It was not good enough for his wife to have to walk through muck when going out of the front door or gate. There were now 80 petitioners to have stock banished from Onslow road. Stock were a grave menace to travelling public and school children. —The council in Ihe meantime is not going to alter things. The stock question is a difficult one by all accounts. New year luck art union: A cheque for £7, part proceeds of the recent art union (New Year Luck) was handed over to the Papakura Social Security and Welfare League.
