YOUNG FARMERS’ CLUB
BRANCH AT DRURY AN ENTHUSIASTIC MEETING A meeting sponsored by the Drury Farmers’ Union was held at the Drury hall to discuss the formation of a Young Farmers’ Club in the district. About 50 farmers and farm workers '"ere present. The meeting was addressed by Mr C. Walker, secretary of the Auckland Provincial Council of the Young Farmers’ Club movement. At the close of the address all present expressed unanimously their belief in the desirability of the formation of a club in the district. The 17 young farmers present agreed to join the movement. The name of the club was debated and it was Anally decided to call the club , the “Franklin Young Farmers’ Club." The officers were then elected as follows: Advisory president, Mr Athol Wood (Runciman); advisory members: Messrs Paterson (Opaheke), W. Bremner (Drury), Fred Appleby (Drury);, chairman, Mr C. Wood (Drury) secretary, Mr R. W. Franke (Runciman) ; treasurer, Mr A. Frank (Runciman). Mr S. W. Draper, president of the Drury Farmers’ Union, agreed to address the first club meeting which will take place on Monday. March 27, on “How to Conduct a Meeting." The Young Farmers’ Club Movement is increasing in membership in the Auckland province. All farmers or farm workers, under 30 years of age, are eligible to join the movement.
