With the Runners at Bledisloe Park
ATHLETIC CLUB FIXTURE IDEAL CONDITIONS PREVAIL CYCLISTS IN GREAT FETTLE The Franklin Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club conducted its weekly meeting at Bledisloe park on Monday. Features of the meeting were the keen finishes in the running events and the excitement created by the three back markers in the two-miles cycle race. The trio, W. Mason, V. Conroy and R. Conroy rode neck and neck for practically the whole distance with Mason making file pace. At the half way mark they had the limit men gathered in and a little further on Ihey overhauled them and raced to he front. On entering the final circuit V. Conroy raced to the lead with. R. Conroy and Mason together. They whirled round the track with wheels only separating them and in a ritthng good finish V. Conroy won by half a wheel from R. Conroy with W. Mason a similar distance away. The time was sm. 2 4 l-ss—excellent considering the "dampness., of the track.
